Abstract

A surface reconstruction application prototype system on the grid was proposed in this paper. First, the reconstruction data was captured by a binocular active visual monitoring platform. To resolve the challenges of the huge data and time-consuming process in surface reconstruction, a parallel strategy for surface reconstruction based on scattered points was presented, and a grid was established for surface reconstruction in parallel model. Final, the prototype was built by encapsulated the computing resources into grid services. Our preliminary results show that the parallel strategy and the prototype system can accelerate the processing of surface reconstruction. Moreover, it can provide some experiences for the similar application problems.
