Abstract

This paper presents a novel direct predictive speed and current (DPSC) controller for PMSM drive. The main contribution of this controller is that speed and current regulators are combined together, which substitutes the conventional cascade PI structure and largely improves system dynamic performance. This method adopts a novel approach to select cost function and input voltage vector. Moreover, a load torque observer based on Lyapunov stability theorem is proposed and it improves the capacity of load disturbance rejection of the DPSC controller as well as guarantees the stability of system. Effectiveness of the DPSC controller is verified through simulation and experimental results on a 750W surface-mounted PMSM platform.
