Abstract

On the basis of the theory of energy release ratio, the distribution of force and deformation of a drill during the cutting process are discussed, and the extended Irwin-Kies formula for the description of relationship between the crack extension energy and the external load and its ratio of change and the compliance ratio with drill crack are presented. According to the time-frequency characteristics of the signal, the mathematical model for the acoustic emission of the drill crack is derived. This paper can provide a theoretical basis for an in depth study in the monitoring of a drill by means of the acoustic emission technology.
