Abstract

Cavity-backed resistor-loaded bow-tie antenna (CBBA) is analyzed by using a joint method of moments (MoM) and network analysis approach. The 5-by-5 characteristic admittance matrix of this antenna structure is firstly extracted from MoM analysis. During this step, redundant MoM simulations are avoided by exploiting the symmetry of this system. Input impedance of the antenna with any set of lumped element loading then can be calculated from the network analysis. This approach can offer some useful guidelines on efficiently tuning resistor loads of cavity-backed bow-tie antenna for better performance from the viewpoint of circuit rather than the viewpoint of full wave analysis.
