Abstract

With the development of cloud computing, cloud services have been widely used to deal with various large-scale complex workflow applications with the powerful computing capability. However, it is very challenging for cloud service providers to effectively schedule and deploy workflow applications while guaranteeing quality-of service (QoS) for different users. In this paper, a novel cost-aware reliable workflow scheduling algorithm (C RW S) is designed to minimize workflow scheduling cost and satisfy the workflow reliability constraints. In C RW S algorithm, we rank tasks to form a scheduling order and decomposes the workflow reliability constraint into tasks sub-reliability constraints. Virtual machines (VMs) are heuristically selected to scheduling workflow tasks for reducing cost while meeting the task sub-reliability constraint.
