Abstract
We report a single frequency laser source consisting of a Tm:YAP coupled-cavity master-oscillator and a Tm-doped fiber power amplifier. The MOFPA yielded 4.55 W of single frequency output at 1990 nm when the input signal was 270 mW and the pumping power was 35.2 W. A strong amplification of spontaneous emission (ASE) was observed when higher pumping power was applied. Therefore, the output power of the single frequency fiber power amplifier was limited by the input power of seed laser.
