Abstract

Using quasi-static compression tests, the influence of molding pressure gradient distribution on mechanical properties of reactive materials were studied. Experiment results show that failure strength of reactive materials with molding pressure gradient distributions is improved compared with that of uniform reactive materials. Negative gradient molding pressure reactive materials showed apparent functionally graded properties. Fully compressed negative molding pressure gradient reactive materials showed mushroom-like failure gradually from the failure behavior point of view, and showed multiple failure strength peaks. The multiple failure strength peak mechanisms are revealed based on the density distribution theories.
