Dr. Fan Yingwei mainly focuses on the research of integrated optical minimally invasive diagnosis and treatment, biomedical optics, medical optics, medical images/signals, artificial intelligence, robot-assisted diagnosis and treatment, etc. He has developed efficient noise removal algorithms for OCT images of tumors, and combined artificial intelligence algorithms to classify tumors and normal tissues according to tumor image features. An intelligent minimally invasive diagnosis and treatment system with multi-modal optical imaging guided laser ablation was developed, which was verified by in situ brain tumor experiments in vitro and in vivo. Furthermore, the basic concept of minimally invasive optical diagnosis and treatment is proposed, the basic theory of intelligent minimally invasive optical diagnosis and treatment is initially created, and two different optical image-guided optical treatment systems are developed. The relevant research results have been selected as a cover article by the internationally renowned magazine Theranostics, and have been widely reported by Tsinghua University, National Natural Science Foundation and other related media. In future studies, the research on intelligent optical minimally invasive diagnosis and treatment will continue, in order to achieve further breakthroughs in the basic principles of intelligent optical minimally invasive diagnosis and treatment, achieve the integration of intelligent optical minimally invasive diagnosis and treatment with multi-modal optical image-guided optical treatment during surgery and be verified in clinical experiments, and gradually develop in the direction of translational medicine.
He has made some innovative work in the development of basic theories and technologies such as intelligent optical minimally invasive diagnosis and treatment, biomedical optics and laser medicine, and has made important research achievements in optical minimally invasive diagnosis and treatment and medical image processing. Up to now, he has published 36 journal papers and 21 international and domestic conference papers, including 2 cover articles and 1 highly cited journal article, 5 authorized patents and 1 registered software copyright; He has presided over 7 state-level projects (National Natural Science Foundation/Youth Science Foundation, etc.) and participated in more than 10 research projects at the national, provincial and ministerial levels and the military. As the second complete person, he won the second Prize of Science and Technology Progress Award of China Stereology Society in 2020, and accumulated more than 20 awards and honors.
