Terahertz Broadband Self-Compensating Waveguide Phase Shifter

摘要

A broadband self-compensating waveguide phase shifter which is easy to be realized in terahertz band is proposed in this paper. The phase shifts generated by widened waveguide and periodic grooves both vary with frequency, while following opposite trend. By properly combining these two different phase shifting structures, the bandwidth of the proposed phase shifter is significantly improved. A terahertz self-compensating 90° waveguide phase shifter is designed and simulated, taking account of the nonideal boundary conditions caused by the manufacturing process. The results of the proposed phase shifter show that in the frequency band from 275 to 385 GHz, the phase deviation is less than 3°, and the insertion loss is better than -0.2dB. The performances reveal its application potential in terahertz broadband feeding network.
