Study on PRF design and Doppler measurement in spaceborne cloud profiling radar

摘要

This paper studies PRF design and Doppler measurement in spaceborne cloud profiling radar (CPR). The relationship between PRF and Doppler velocity accuracy is considered. The operational PRF will be constrained by CPR's geometry and timing parameters. The constraint relationship between PRF and the radar parameters are given. The available PRF for typical situation is simulated considering the distance constraints. Antenna sidelobes ambiguity and range ambiguity are also analyzed, and insults show that these two limitations can be ignored for spaceborne CPR. Derivation of velocity accuracy is shown based on Zrnic's method. And simulations for two different modes of operations are obtained using the derivation result.
