摘要
The performance of Whipple, mesh double-bumper (MDB), multi-shock (MS) and stuffed Whipple (SW) shield are discussed by using semi-empirical ballistic limit equations (BLEs). SW, MDB and MS shield have shown superior performance compared with the aluminum Whipple shield for protecting spacecraft from meteoroid and orbital debris (M/OD) at an equal areal density and the same impact conditions, and SW shield is much better than the others. SW shield, MS and MDB shield compared to aluminum Whipple shield achieve shield performance increase of approximately 140% and 60% for equivalent hypervelocity impact.
