Numerical simulations of concrete targets with a pre-drilled cavity penetrated by a projectile

摘要

The concrete target penetrated by the ogive-nose projectile is numerically simulated with the AUTODYN code, and parameters of the calculation are determined based on experiment results. A series of numerical simulations of concrete target with different size predrilled cavities penetrated by projectiles are developed. Curves of the penetration vs. relative aperture and curves of velocity vs. time are obtained by numerical simulations. It is found that penetration is not affected too much by the changing of the relative aperture when it is lower than 0.3. When the relative aperture reaches to 0.7, the increase of the relative aperture has a great effect on the penetration process.
