Full-port CFD analysis of key operating parameters for hydrodynamic retarders

摘要

In order to explore the regularity of key operating parameters of a hydrodynamic retarder, a full-port fluid model with inlet and outlet was created by adding interfaces according to specific structures. Simulation was conducted under various revolving speed and system flow rate. Corresponding relationship of feedback pressure and outlet pressure was derived and explained from the perspective of flow theory. The relationship between brake torque, feedback pressure and oil filling ratio was specified by conducting partially filled and transient simulation of charging procedure. Conclusions derived can serve as basic foundations in the modeling and application of brake torque characteristics, inlet, outlet and feedback pressure characteristics of hydrodynamic retarders.
