Effect of oxidizers in magnesium fuel-rich propellant for water-ramjet engine

摘要

The reaction thermodynamic parameters of magnesium with oxidizers(NaNO3, KNO3, NH4ClO4, KClO4) were calculated. The burning rates were measured. Reactivities of combustion products of the propellants with sea water were studied by a method for collecting gaseous products of H2. The results showed that the first combustion product of NH4ClO4 formulation has got the highest temperature, the lest residual magnesium, and lowest burning rate. The burning rate of NaNO3 system was highest. The reaction of first combustion product of KClO4 system with water had the largest amount of total H2 gas. The first combustion product of NH4ClO4 system had the fastest reaction with sea water.
