N2 - Under the trend of "Connected-Autonomous-Shared-Electric (CASE)", Vehicle styling has evolved from an aesthetic attribute to being functional, social and interactive attributes. So it is at the forefront of major changes. To better understand the research status and grasp the development trend, the research framework of vehicle styling design was explained. The different task models and procedures were analyzed via systematic analysis on domestic and foreign documents. Then the existing system of vehicle styling design research was summarized from five aspects including brand cultural characteristics, image drive, aerodynamics, passive safety and occupant comfort. The development trend of vehicle styling design research in the context of CASE was prospected in three aspects including space reconstruction, experience reconstruction and value gain, and the key research methods were summarized into computational design methods, digital design technology and digital twin technology.
