Application of two-dimensional light extinction technique for soot concentration measurement in an axisymmetric laminar diffusion flame

摘要

A two-dimensional measurement system was designed and built based on light extinction with effective tomographic inversion algorithm for accurate measurement of soot concentration distribution in a co-flow laminar ethylene diffusion flame. It operated simply. A collimated light with brightness uniformity passing through the ethylene flame would image in the CCD. An anti-noise numerical simulation ensured the credibility of the inversion algorithm. Test results show that the maximum soot concentration is in the annular region of the flame. The soot concentration increases with flame height until reaches its maximum and then decreases till it vanishes at the visible flame tip. The results are in good agreement with those reported in the literature, indicating the present two-dimensional light extinction system is effective and correctly implemented.
