A Design of Single-Feed Quad-Beam Antenna Using Phase Shifting Surfaces

摘要

A design of single-feed multi-beam antennas using phase shifting surfaces is presented in the paper. The proposed antenna is composed of a standard gain horn antenna and a transmit-array. The transmit-array are phase shifting surfaces, which could realize the function of beam convergence to make the antenna have higher gain, and achieve four beams at the same time. The unit cell of the transmit-array is composed of four metallic layers and three dielectric layers alternately arranged. The metallic layers is implemented by cascading a two-dimensional array of micro-strip square rings with circle patches inside. The transmit-array are consisted of 16 × 16 elements, and its structure is symmetrical along the X-axis and Y-axis. The whole prototype operation in X-band could generate four symmetric beams with 50° elevation separation between the beams and a peak realized gain of 11.2 dBi.
