Abstract

A wideband single layer UHF antenna with fractional bandwidth of 19.3% is proposed by using of an embedded notch structure feeding a folded dipole coupled with a load bar. Its wide bandwidth makes the antenna suitable for the transceiver approach for wireless passive surface acoustic wave (SAW) sensor based on orthogonal frequency coded (OFC) delay-line devices. The frequency responses and radiation pattern of the antenna are tested, and measured results agree very well with simulated ones. The measured results show that the proposed antenna has a bandwidth of 175MHz (817-992 MHz) for a 2 dB VSWR and a gain of 2 dBi.
