Abstract

Hydrogen from Ethanol is one of the major technologies of ethanol used in the field of energy. The existing technology of Hydrogen Production from Steam Reforming of Ethanol has a series of problems, such as high cost, unreasonable energy structure, low conversion efficiency and difficulties to keep stable operation. In this paper, firstly, a mathematical model of the process of the Hydrogen Production from Steam Reforming of Ethanol was established according to The Law of thermodynamics. The problem of large enthalpy changes in chemical reaction of hydrogen production by ethanol steam reforming is pointed. And then; a technique scheme of Renewable Hydrogen from Ethanol via Oxidative Steam Reforming was put forward and analyzed. Finally, a kind of regeneration hydrogen experimental device is designed to realize the sustainable hydrogen production of ethanol, on the basis of existing non-precious metal catalysts technology. The composition and content of the resultant measured by third party inspection organizations show that, the experimental data agree with the mathematical model. The main products of Renewable Hydrogen from Ethanol were combustible gas such as H2, CH4, CO, CO2, C2H4 and other ammable liquid. Element carbon may be occurring under partial high temperature, dehydration, and enrichment oxygen. The gas generating component could be adjusted by the concentration of the ethanol and the concentration of oxygen, the volume fraction of 0.64 ethanol solution was the ideal reactant for hydrogen production.
