Abstract

A double population genetic algorithm (DPGA) is presented and applied to synthesize the array antenna pattern by controlling only the current amplitudes. In the algorithm, the global and local population is employed, and each population had different object function, fitness evaluation and genetic programming. Containing the population multiplicity and speediness, DPGA locats the optimization area into a small region and results in avoiding of premature convergence and improvement of the search ability. Computer simulation shows that DPGA has no frequency restriction and may obtain better results than those reported in other literatures.
