Abstract

Odor smell from tobacco processing is a kind of odor pollution. Air emitted from Shanghai Cigarette Plant reached secondary standard of environment air quality (GB3095-96) by using non-thermal plasma technology. The experiment also put forward the basis for increasing removal efficiency of non-thermal plasma facility. In the laboratory, electric field strength and gas flow velocity were changed. The results showed removal efficiency of tobacco odor increased with electric field strength increasing and gas flow velocity decreasing. As important factors for design NPTS (non-thermal plasma treatment system), rest time was 1-2 s and electric field strength was above 10 kV/cm, which should be selected. In the cigarette plant's experiment, gas flux and equipment power were changed. The results showed that the plasma reactor should not be too big, and shunt-wound reactors should be a good application. When equipment power reached 6 kW, removal efficiency of tobacco odor was the highest.
