Abstract

This work introduces a visible/infrared transfer film. The heat transfer equation of the polyimide (PI) film was derived, and the diffusion distribution was calculated based on the equations. For three films with different thickness, the calculated heat diffusion distances were 113.0, 113.4 and 114.2 μm. PI films of different thickness were prepared to investigate experimentally their temperature diffusion. The experimental results of heat diffusion distances were 119.6, 121.6, 122.8 μm. It proves that the theoretic model is correct basically. An optimized film has been used to build a visible/infrared image converter and the infrared image with high resolution and high convert efficiency been obtained in the infrared experiment.
