Abstract

2,3,6-tri-O-propyl-β-CD columns prepared by sol-gel technology are studied. Comparison of columns prepared by the sol-gel and by the static technology is carried out, showing that columns prepared by the two processes have similar capacities. The mechanism with which the non-hydroxy-terminated stationary phase columns are through the prepared sol-gel technology is discussed. It is seen that the sol-gel 3-D network can encapsulate the non-hydroxy-terminated stationary phase and that this encapsulation is a key factor in the preparation of sol-gel columns.
