Abstract

An automatic mechanical transmission (AMT) system has been developed for an electric bus. In order to realize collaborative control between AMT and the induction motor and to improve the shift quality, controller area network (CAN) bus technology is introduced, and the gear-shifting control method with the AMT has been proposed. Considering the unfavorable electromagnetic environment existing in the electric bus, electromagnetic compatibility design for AMT ECU is made. Experimental results showed that using the AMT system and corresponding gear-shifting control methods, the drive and economical performances of the car can be much improved.
