Status and improvement of China's renewable energy legislation

Abstract

The Law on Renewable Energy in China has played an important role in promoting the development of renewable energy industry since it was enforced in 2006. However, many problems are exposed in the process of its implementation. How to tackle the legislative conflicts and lag on renewable energy law affects the sustainable and healthy development of renewable energy industry and the construction of environmental legal system. This paper reviews the evolution of renewable energy legislation, combing the form and content of existing renewable energy legislation, analyzing the major problems of current system and their causes, and then put forward several countermeasures and suggestions for improving China's renewable energy legislation.
