Abstract

High resolution radar and multi-mode seeker technologies are the important study subjects in the domain of precision homing guidance. As an instantaneous narrowband and synthetic wideband waveform, stepped frequency radar signal has been widely exploited in many applications, since it allows high range resolution with modest requirements of the system bandwidth. In this paper, the spectrum synthesis method for linear modulated stepped frequency (LMSF) signal based on spectral extraction is adopted to avoid the range profile ambiguity and energy leakage which are the key problems of conventional signal processing method. The principle of the spectrum synthesis method has been analyzed in detail. The simulation results show, it is more flexible to select the number and form of sub-pulses and both high detection performance and high resolution range profile (HRRP) can be obtained.
