Abstract

The preparation and characterization of luminescent neutral Au₁₂ shuttle-like complexes is reported which shows a cyclic framework consisting of twelve gold(i) ions arranged in a closed ring via non-covalent Au(i)⋯Au(i) interactions to give a chiral D₂ symmetrical structure.
