Review of reentry guidance methods for hypersonic gliding vehicles

Abstract

The development of reentry guidance methods for hypersonic gliding vehicles was reviewed. Firstly, the dynamics of a reentry vehicle was established. The path constraints, the terminal constraints and the geographic constraints were analyzed for a reentry flight. Secondly, longitudinal reentry guidance algorithms were divided into three categories: the trajectory tracking method, the predictor-corrector method, and the hybrid method. Lateral reentry guidance algorithms were divided into two categories: guidance for the conventional constraints and guidance for the geographic constraints. Reviews were presented for the three longitudinal guidance methods and the two lateral guidance methods. Finally, the guidance technology was prospected for hypersonic gliding vehicles according to flight missions in the future.
