Abstract

A tracer method with tungsten powder for shaped charge jet is described in detail. The method is used to test the plastic parameters in experiment. The trajectory characteristic of tracer point is tested based on X-ray photography system. Stretching variation of each part of shaped charge liner from base to apex is displayed obviously. The dynamic plastic parameters, such as axial stretching rate, change of stretching rate and ultimate length of jet, are obtained. In the process of jet stretching, the overall changing rule of each part along the conical liner generatrix is that the stretching rate of middle part is the largest and that of top part is the smallest, and the stretching gaps of these parts decrease gradually. The ultimate length of jet is 337.13 mm by the calculation of stretching rate, which is in the predictive range of empirical formula. The result shows that the identifying method can be used to describe the stretching variation in the process of jet movement, and then some dynamic plastic parameters, such as the overall stretching rate and the ultimate length of jet, would be predicted well.
