Abstract

A chemistry method is proposed to prepare modified polymer electrolyte membranes of poly (vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) (PVDF-HFP) by alkaline treatment. The component and structure of polymer electrolyte were characterized by IR, XRD and SEM. The SEM images show that the modified polymer electrolyte films have sponginess porous structure, which benefits the increase of ionic conductivity. By using linear sweep voltammetry, it shows that the electrochemical stability of the modified material is good, below 6 V. The ionic conductivity for the modified polymer electrolyte is measured at 1.272 × 10-3 S/cm at 20°C using A.C. impedance method. This modification method is cost-saving, harmless and easy to conduct.
