Abstract

Ammonium polyphosphate (APP) form II was prepared by heating a mixture of ammonium phosphates (diammonium and monoammonium phosphates) and urea at 270°C to 290°C with APP form II as crystal seed. The react factor was investigated. The APP prepared was characterized with IR, XRD, and TG. The results indicated that the APP prepared was consistent with APP form II in character on the whole. The mechanism of engendering APP form II was discussed.
