Abstract
A description was made on the pool fires in the open air and on their hazards analysis with a summary given on the physical characteristics of the pool fires, which are the: (1) flame shape and size, (2) thermal radiation flux of flame surface, and (3) spread of thermal radiation. The damage criteria of thermal radiation were discussed and induced, and the iterative algorithm to perform the hazard analysis of pool fires was derived. Finally, some simulation calculations were carried out and several important laws were discussed and confirmed.
