Abstract
We present the designs of polarization-selective diffractive phase elements (PDPE's) that achieve the selection polarization modes, the demultiplexing of wavelengths, and the focusing of the individual polarization mode with different wavelengths at the predesignated positions on the output plane. The design scheme is based on the general theory of amplitude-phase retrieval and iterative algorithm. A set of equations for determining modulation depths distribution of the surface-relief PDPE is presented. Several model designs of the PDPE's are carried out in the one-dimensional case. The numerical results show that the proposed approach can achieve satisfactorily the relevant design of the desired PDPE's. It is expected that this new approach will provide another useful tool for designing the PDPE's in micro-optical systems.
