Abstract
Polyvinylidene fluoride(PVDF)/polydopamine(PDA)/cyclodextrin(CD) functionalized fibrous membranes were prepared by electrospinning technique combined with in-situ self-polymerization. The structure and morphology of the membranes were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscope and scanning electron microscope. The adsorption behaviors of the functionalized fibrous membranes for methylene blue at different pH values were investigated. The results show that PDA and following CD molecules attaching to the surface of PVDF fibers after functionalization increase the diameter and surface roughness of PVDF/PDA/CD fibers, and improve the adsorption capacity of the functionalized fibrous membrane. The functionalized fibrous membrane exhibits higher adsorption capacity in alkaline media when the pH value of methylene blue solution is in the range of 1 to 10. With the increase of adsorption time, the adsorption of methylene blue by PVDF/PDA/CD membrane goes up gradually. The adsorption process conforms to the pseudo-second-order kinetic model, which is controlled by chemisorption.
