Abstract

The calculation formula of the indicated mean effective pressure (IMEP) was derived from the cylinder pressure signal using the Fourier transform method. Maximum sampling step is determined by analyzing the spectrum distribution of cylinder pressure of the DEUTZ BF6M 2015 diesel engine. The effects of sampling step and top dead center position deviation on IMEP calculation were presented. A real-time on-line IMEP calculation system for the diesel engine torque closed-loop control was developed on the dSPACE-MicroAutoBox platform. Experimental study on on-line IMEP calculation system was made on the DEUTZ BF6M 2015 diesel engine test bench. Experimental results show that, compared with the Kistler Combustion Analyzer, the IMEP calculation error from the on-line IMEP calculation system is less than 5% when sampling step is less than 30°CA with accurate position of top dead center.
