Abstract

Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) numerical simulation method was used to simulate the flow field of dispenser and graphical electromagnetic computing (GRECO) method was used to compute dispenser's radar cross section (RCS). Good agreements were obtained between the computed aerodynamic characteristics results and the wind tunnel test results and between the computed RCS and the outdoor measured results. Aerodynamic characteristics and RCS of rectangular cross-section missiles with variable width-to-thickness ratio and rounded corners radius ratio were calculated. It is an effective method for dispenser aerodynamic design and stealth design with the help of the calculated relational database between the bodies geometrical parameters and the dispenser aerodynamics characteristics or RCS.
