Abstract

The negative refraction of acoustic waves in the two-dimensional photonic crystals was demonstrated. Investigations show that the all angle negative refraction (AANR) of acoustic waves was found in some systems. The refractive devices based on phononic crystals were found to behave in a similar manner to optical systems. The negative refractive behavior of acoustic waves was described using a negative square root of negative refractive index.
