Abstract

The reaction of terpyridine derivatives L1/L2 with Ln(NO3)3 led to the formation of three new mononuclear complexes with formulae [LnL1(CH3OH)(H2O)(NO3)2]NO3 2CH3OH (Ln=Yb, 1; Ln=Dy, 2) and [DyL2(NO3)3(H2O)] 2CH3OH (3). Complexes 1, 2 and 3 were characterized by crystal structure determination, magnetic properties study. Ac magnetic susceptibility measurements reveal that all complexes exhibited field-induced single-ion magnet (SIM) behavior.
