Abstract

In this paper, with exploration of IP router and LSR first, a novel model of the GMPLS enabled router is presented. Under the definition, GMPLS enabled router is essentially a LSR with extension to support control of non packet switch capable data plane devices by drawing an abstract image over the device from the perspective of JP/MPLS stack. Certain network devices are registered not to be network interfaces of IP/MPLS stack but G-Labels of a Label Space associated with certain network interface. To exemplify the definition of the model, a brief description of the configuration of GMPLS testbed and operation scenario is given. As an enhancement to the model, the G-LSP established is defined as a Point-to-Point TE-link, which can be advertised to the network though routing protocols. This feature makes the deployment of GMPLS system more scalable.
