Abstract

A method of edge detection based on extended mathematical morphology is presented. Traditional methods of edge detection are sensitive to image noise, so these operators of edge detection can not effectively remove image noise. Edge detection methods based on classical mathematical morphology can remove the image noise, but have bad edge performance. In order to solve this problem, the definition of extended mathematical morphology is presented, and a method of edge detection based on extended mathematical morphology is proposed. Simulation results show that this method can not only remove image noise, but also has better property of image edge.
