Abstract

The peak side lobe level (PSLL) of beam pattern is an important factor of distributed coherent aperture radar. Therefore, the lower bound estimation method of PSLL of beam pattern is proposed for the planar nonuniform distributed coherent aperture radar in this paper. In the proposed method, the main lobe of beam pattern is firstly fitted by two-dimensional Gaussian function. Then, the power density ratio of side lobe to main lobe is calculated according to the total received power and the received power of the fitted main lobe. Furthermore, the lower bound of PSLL in the sense of Dolph-Chebyshev is obtained by means of sine function fitting method. The proposed method can provide the lower bound of PSLL of beam pattern to guide the array configuration design of distributed coherent aperture radar.
