Abstract
A technique based on lattice Boltzmann model for computing photonic band struture and defect modes was proposed. The scheme was based on kinetics of the virtual microscopic process. It was found that the method had significant advantages of being naturally suited for massively parallel machine and provides another methodology for photonic band gap materials.
