Abstract

Pressed TNT explosive was chosen to carry out 2-D Lagrangian experiments. There lied two 2-D composite manganin-constantan (CMC) Lagrangian gauges at the same Lagrangian position. And the two gauges were placed on and off the axis, respectively. The pressure and radial displacement were measured by the CMC Lagrangian gauges embedded between individual discs of explosives. And the shock initiation process of the pressed TNT was analyzed by using the 2-D reactive flow Lagrangian analysis. At the different Lagrangian positions, some variables were gained, such as particle velocity, relative specific volume, specific internal energy, reaction rate and frozen sound speed. Results reveal the effects of lateral rarefaction waves on explosive variables during shock initiation.
