Abstract

To reduce voltage distortion caused by dead time, the dead time effects were analyzed. A dead time compensation method combing current sampling timing and control period was introduced. According to volt-time equivalent principle, distorted voltages in a control period (half PWM period) were calculated and compensation time was obtained to make inverter output voltages equal to reference voltages. By adding an offset to output pulses, a higher modulation duty cycle and a simplified strategy were achieved. The current sampling timing is fixed in this method which can reduce current harmonics. The experimental results show that this method is easily implemented and the current waveform is effectively improved.
