Influence of dispersing property of nanomaterial mixed into propellant on the service life of gun barrel

Abstract

A method was used to prolong service life of gun barrel by adding the nanomaterial to the propellant. Influences of the nanomaterial on the propellant were researched. Especially, dispersing property of the namomaterial influences service life of gun barrel dramatically. The propellant's antierosion capability can be improved by adding the nanomaterial to the propellant. However, service life of gun barrel is reduced when the nanomaterial can't be dispersed in the propellant. And service life of gun barrel at normal temperature is prolonged dramatically when the nanomaterial is dispersed in the propellant.
