Abstract

With the rapidly increasing growth of digital video services, higher demands are placed on the reliability of broadcast communications. In this paper, we investigate broadcast schemes of fountain codes with feedback. We first propose an improved scheme based on non-uniform selection, which utilizes feedback to exclude useless source symbols from the selection range. In order to enhance the effectiveness of coded symbols, we further improve the proposed scheme by introducing the concatenated structure with fixed-rate pre-coding. Simulation results demonstrate that proposed schemes attain higher spectral efficiency compared to existing broadcast schemes.
