Abstract

The clean and zero-carbon 'green hydrogen' represented by electrically producing hydrogen from renewable energy, is the most important development direction of hydrogen production technology in the future. 'Green hydrogen' plays the key role connection renewable energy sources and some cases of end-use energy. Performing research on the potential distributions and related economies of green hydrogen production will promote the development of the green hydrogen industry in China. In order to evaluate the production potential and economics of the green hydrogen, this work proposed a set of evaluation algorithms and optimization models for the potential and cost of green hydrogen production, based on Global Renewable-energy Exploitation Analysis Platform, GREAN. Therein, the potential of green hydrogen production in China is obtained, and the cost optimization map is drawn as well. In addition, a detailed analysis of the areas with abundant green hydrogen resources and excellent economy in China was carried out.
