Abstract

`Virtual Paging Fuzzy Inference Chip using Interpolation Algorithm' was presented in 1995. The interpolation used in this method is carried out by using a first moment and area determined by some representative points in the antecedent part and the distance between observation datum and such the representative points. In this paper, we introduce a new interpolation algorithm and discuss its software implementation. This method determines fuzzy production rules, the center of gravity and the area of each label in consequent part in advance. We have also developed fuzzy inference engine RISC chip aimed at the realization of this algorithm. The chip implements a system with 4 inputs and 2 outputs. Each input can be either analog or digital, and outputs are digital. The resolution of the universe of inputs and outputs is 10 bit. The inference speed of the engine is about 5,300 FLIPS. Finally this chip is used to implement a fuzzy controller.
