Abstract

The paper studies the formation design and baseline optimization of multiple Geosynchronous SAR (GEO SAR) interferometry. First, the formation configuration of current low Earth orbit SAR (LEO SAR) satellites are analysed in detail, and the various configurations are catalogued and modelled. Then, considering the characteristics of GEO SAR, the potential formation configurations of the twin GEO SAR interferometry are proposed. A case study of GEO SAR with the nadir track of figure 'O' is presented. The formation configurations are accomplished, giving the orbit parameters and the optimized baseline. Finally, simulations using the software STK (Satellite Tool Kits, AGI) are given, validating the proposed formation configuration design of the twin GEO SAR interferometry.
