Abstract

Five new polymethylmethacrylate(PMMA) nanocomposites were reviewed in this paper. They contain nanofillers, such as single wall carbon nano-tube(SWCNT), carbon nano-fiber(CNF), polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane(POSS), nano silica(NS) and nano metal oxide(NMO) individually. Their performances of morphology, thermal stability and pyrolysis, and flame retardancy were discussed and analyzed by the cone calorimeter. These composites are mainly prepared by the solution mixing process. The dispersion of nanofillers in the PMMA matrix is the key issue affecting materials performances.
